New guidance on Conflicts of Interest, Institutional Committees, and RIOs and Institutional Officials are available for the updated 42 CFR Part 93. These guidance documents act as practical resources tailored to meet the complexities of the updated regulation. ORI has released guidance for institutions as they navigate research misconduct proceedings involving generative AI.

ORI is excited to announce the release of the 2025 Annual Report. This report reflects ORI’s continued work with institutions, researchers, publishers, and federal partners to strengthen research integrity and support rigorous, transparent, and accountable stewardship of federally funded research.

ORI is co-sponsoring the next RIO Boot Camp with the University of Rochester. The 2 ½-day workshop, held September 2-4, 2026, will provide practical training on the 2024 Public Health Service Policies on Research Misconduct final rule, research misconduct case management, and the roles and responsibilities of Research Integrity Officers. Participants will also have opportunities to learn from experienced RIOs, connect with colleagues from across the country, and engage with ORI staff and instructors.

Grant applications are due by July 27, 2026 by 6pm EST.

These opportunities support practical, outcome-driven initiatives that help institutions, researchers, and the broader research community address emerging challenges in research oversight, responsible conduct of research, compliance, and research integrity education.
