CONFIDENTIALITY It is not OK to make confidential information public by posting photos on the internet or writing about your project for a newspaper. To do this, you need specific permission from the project directors and the people you are writing about. Do not put private information you learn from research or pictures of participants in brochures. Do not talk about private information if you are interviewed by a reporter. Reporting confidential research observations without permission can
violate the trust of the community, can put individuals at risk, and
