All activities involving vertebrate animals are under the purview of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the Campus Veterinarian. The use and care of vertebrate animals in research requires stringent review, approval, and inspections. Many institutions maintain AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care) accreditation to help ensure an exemplary program.
