Peer reviewers should
(cont.):
- Strive to be accurate.
Errors, even honest ones, may cause harm both in substance (ultimate
disposition of manuscript or proposal) and in spirit (psychological).
- Acknowledge their
own limits in performing a review. If appropriate, reviewers should
indicate the limitations of their review. If the material is significantly
out of their area of expertise, they should consider returning the document
without review and with a comment to that effect.
