Plagiarism is defined as "The appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit" (OSTP 2000).

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using someone's ideas, results, or words without clear attribution
  • Representing someone's ideas, results, or words as your own original work
  • Using someone's ideas, results, or words from a proposal or manuscript you are reviewing or have reviewed
  • Including your own previously published findings in a manuscript without citing the earlier publication
