Sample Paper Excerpt

An author reports a study based on a patient satisfaction survey of 10,111 respondents in the U.S. The survey was administered to patients who had received outpatient care services from both public and private health clinics.

A regression analysis was conducted and the analytical sample size was 4,025. The author notes this in a footnote and attributes it to the likely fact that listwise deletion (ex. cases excluded from analysis because data on one or more variables was missing) was used along with a large number of variables (15) and that is why the sample was reduced.

Does the author's footnote adequately explain the missing values?
