On September 1, 2022, the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) published a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register. ORI sought input and perspectives from individuals, research funding agencies, institutional officials, organizations, institutions, and other members of the general public on the 2005 Public Health Service Policies on Research Misconduct, 42 C.F.R. Part 93, to help structure ORI’s future plans to revise the regulation. The comment period closed October 31, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

During the comment period, ORI received comments by email from a combined total of 31 individuals, institutions, and organizations. Comments ranged in nature and length, from short emails to multi-page letters. ORI will make de-identified comments publicly available as part of the rulemaking process. Information about how to view those comments will be provided on the ORI website at that time.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on the RFI. Please keep an eye on the ORI website for information on future opportunities to provide input during the rulemaking process.
