The federal Interagency Research Animal Committee (IRAC) is primarily concerned with the conservation, use, care, and welfare of research animals. IRAC developed the U. S. Government Principles for the Utilization and Care of Vertebrate Animals Used in Testing, Research, and Training (U. S. Government Principles), a set of nine principles to govern animal research. These principles are the cornerstone of the current regulatory environment. |
