In addition, project directors must submit the following for review:
- Documented consideration of alternatives to painful procedures
- Written description of the methods used to evaluate alternatives
- Written assurance the project does not duplicate previous experiments
- Acknowledgment of any deviations from AWA standards or regulations
- Enumeration of species and approximate numbers to be used
- Rationale for animal use, species, and number of animals to be used
- Complete description of proposed animal use
