Sample Paper Excerpt

An author reports findings in a submitted paper that,

"...the average amount of housework performed by women is 32.6 hours with a standard deviation of 18.2; while for men the average is 18.1 with a standard deviation of 12.9."

The author concludes "...that obviously women perform a statistically significantly greater amount of housework than men."

One of the reviewers doubts the validity of this claim and feels the author has failed to provide adequate proof of the assertion.

Has the author provided adequate proof of this assertion?
