Responsiveness

Participation in peer review is considered a valuable service to science in general and to one's field of study in particular. The main mission of peer review is to assess the quality of research to be conducted, in the form of proposal submissions, or research completed in the form of manuscript submissions. Reviewers base their recommendations to funding agencies or journal editors on their research expertise and experience.
