Use of Acronyms

Acronyms take the short form of the initial letter of each word that makes up a term. They are commonly used as abbreviations for the names of organizations (ex. CDC), frequently referenced terms (ex. CD-ROM), or complicated concepts (ex. DNA). They are sometimes used in written forms of communication to address space constraints.
