Clarity of Research Methods – Trimming and Cooking Data
Authors are in a position to determine what study-related information, such as procedures or modifications of the original protocol, should be either revealed or withheld in a submitted manuscript. The rationale for including relevant information is what will be necessary for editors, reviewers, and readers to understand important aspects of the study. Conversely, the rationale for excluding other information (ex. select findings not reported) is what the authors feel to be irrelevant to the overall study findings.
