CASE STUDY: Crashing into Law

Oleson supplied his answer to the question that the lawyer had asked. Therefore, he fulfilled his ethical obligations to the lawyer.

While the rules of what expert witnesses are expected to disclose are different from the rules of what is reasonable to provide in reporting research, Dr. Oleson and his assistants are being employed as researchers, on contract to the lawyer. The lawyer has a right to full disclosure on all of the attempts made to model the damage. Dr. Oleson should have provided details and qualifications of his conclusion.
