To help assure that researchers understand their responsibilities to
research subjects, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) currently
requires
…education on the protection of human research participants
for all investigators submitting NIH applications for grants or proposals
for contracts or receiving new or non-competing awards for research
involving human subjects. (Link)
Many institutions, including NIH, provide this training through special
Web-based programs that summarize essential information and in some
cases require some evidence of mastery. A description of the education
program and who was trained must be included in applications for grants
and contracts before they will be considered.
