Common Peer Review Dilemmas

This section provides opportunities to explore dilemmas that novice peer reviewers may face. The consequences of these dilemmas can range from minor misunderstandings to potential for compromising research integrity.

Users, in their role as a novice peer reviewer, will select from a list of dilemmas, each with a descriptive title. Each dilemma will include an introductory paragraph describing the initial scenario setting, followed by a specific dilemma. Users will have to select from a list of four possible actions to take. (Note: the four selections represent only a limited number of possibilities and the user may find other more appropriate actions). Each action will present users four possible outcomes. A follow-up feedback message will describe the consequences of certain choices, and if appropriate, make a recommendation for better decision-making.
