3. Everyone has a right to say No.
People have a right, within limits, to choose how their lives go. We call this the right to autonomy (freedom). The decision to participate in research should be completely free and voluntary.
Pressuring people is not respectful. Don’t pressure or force people to participate in research. It shows disrespect for their freedom.
Respect people. Respect their right to say No.
