CONFIDENTIALITY
7. You must break confidentiality when you learn that someone plans to physically hurt himself or someone else.

You are required to break confidentiality when you learn that someone plans to kill or hurt himself or someone else, especially a child. For instance, someone might say “I won’t be around for the next interview because nothing matters anymore.” This might indicate that the person plans to hurt himself. You should ask the person to be more specific to find out.

If you learn that someone is planning to hurt him or herself, or hurt someone else, report what you have learned to your supervisor immediately.
