VIDEO-CLIP I. WHAT SHOULD A STUDENT ASK WHEN JOINING A LAB OR STARTING A PROJECT?

Summary

Dr. Talladega, the head of a lab, sits in his office with Susan Martensville, a post-doc, when Jane Bristol, a new graduate student, enters. Jane is informed that she will be working with them on a project that is nearing completion. Jane expresses concern about her qualifications for the task. Dr. Talladega and Susan reassure her and offer her an opportunity for co-authorship. Jane agrees to take part. Dr. Talladega then informs Jane that she will be working primarily with Susan.

Are there issues that Jane didn’t ask about that may have been important for her to address before joining the lab and agreeing to take part in the project?
