Issues regarding the sharing, custody, and
ownership of data include are especially important in multi-institutional
studies. They include, but are not limited to:
- Establishing general guidelines for how
the data will be shared among the participants. This should be done
early in the collaborative arrangement.
- Negotiating issues as they arise. Collaborative
researchers should understand that conditions may change during the
study and be willing to discuss changes to the initial guidelines, if
necessary.
