Individuals in a collaboration must be held accountable for their actions. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Awareness of and compliance with formal policies, regulations, and laws that apply to the research, even if a specific component of the research is conducted at a different site
  • Knowledge of issues concerning intellectual property, such as the effect of prepublication disclosure of research findings on potential patenting rights
