Individuals listed as authors, and the order in which they are listed, should reflect the relative contributions to the work by the individuals.

It is becoming more common to indicate that two individuals contributed equally to the work, even though one must be listed first.

Authorship decisions should be based on individuals’ contributions to the work performed, not on their status or rank.
