			Like the researcher, the graduate student must receive appropriate initial and ongoing training in the care and use of rats and with the experiment’s procedures. When reviewing this protocol, the IACUC will undoubtedly have concerns about the lack of experience with the procedures and rats by both the researcher and graduate student, and they will require in-depth training of both prior to starting the study, and ongoing supervision.
