Animal Subjects		Case Study Review: Professor's Laboratory
			At Institution X, all animals must be maintained in an animal care facility certified, or otherwise approved, by the IACUC. All animal care facilities must meet pertinent federal and state regulations, policies, and laws. As neither the researcher nor the graduate student have any experience with the care of rats, the IACUC will require the researcher to house the animals in the department’s animal facility. In addition, keeping rats in a laboratory where members of the public participating as human subjects come and go may be unsafe, and is generally inappropriate.
