Citation of an Online Source
A literature review is a convention used by authors in most fields of research when preparing a manuscript for publication. A literature review provides editors and reviewers an opportunity to examine past and current research trends that lead authors to make certain assumptions in their proposals. Thus, previous studies are primarily used to provide support for an author's proposed rationale for a research study. In order to assess the validity of the cited studies, editors and reviewers must be able to seek out the original sources and review the material for themselves. Inaccurate citations can represent a significant barrier to this process.
