Goal:   
                To promote responsible conduct of research and  help those involved in research activities to become proactive and better  prepared to deal with  issues that may arise during the course of a research  project.
				 
                Learning Objectives:   
                By the end of each section, users should be able to do the  following:
                Section 1: Overview of Research Mentoring
                       -  Identify reasons for establishing the mentor-trainee  relationship when conducting research.
				                                    - Describe why research mentoring is important to the responsible conduct of research.
				
				Section 2: Need for Mentoring
                       - Identify at least 5 reasons for supporting a mentoring relationship.
				
				Section 3: Expectations, Goals, Objectives
                       - Describe how the process of self-assessment can support pursuing research interests in a responsible          manner.
								
				Section 4: Establishing the Relationship
                       - Identify important issues to be considered when initiating a mentor-trainee relationship.
				
				Section 5: Working Together
                       - Explain why a mentor should combine mentoring knowledge with activities that suit his/her trainee's needs.
				
				Section 6: Identifying Challenges
                       - Describe the challenges that compromise the mentor-trainee relationship.
				                                                                  - Describe why a failed mentor/trainee relationship can impact the integrity of research endeavors as well as          affiliated institutions. 
				
				Section 7: Lessons Learned
                       - Using lessons learned from studies of the mentoring relationship, list at least three strategies to improve           the quality of the mentor-trainee relationship.
				
				Section 8: Transition to Independent Researcher
                       - Describe the developmental nature of the mentor-trainee relationship, from the initiation of the novice to          separation of the independent researcher.
